SDG 4 and Quality Education For All
If you mention the term “SDGs” to friends and family, chances are, you’ll get a blank look. Many individuals have never heard of an “SDG” and have no idea what it is. People who work in corporate social responsibility or for an NGO or who take part in Fridays for Futures demos are familiar with the concept, but what about the rest of us? Let’s have a closer look at the “SDGs”, and in particular SDG 4, and let’s find out how and why they are relevant to us and our lives today.
What are the SDGs?
The Sustainable Development Goals are also known as the SDGs. These are 17 goals that were agreed to in 2015 at a United Nations summit by leaders from around the world. These goals make up a plan of action which is called the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.
What is sustainable development?
The world is developing all the time. Populations are growing; resources are being used and used up. With all of this development and consumption, big challenges are popping up that will affect the future of our planet and its people. Sustainable development means that we identify and implement new ways to develop so that our planet isn’t destroyed in the process and future generations don’t lose out. We need to work together to find smart solutions for a sustainable world.
